  3. Connect your Nexus to the PC via USB, and you must make sure have previously installed the Driver.
  4. Open the Command Prompt or Terminal and go to the folder where you unzipped the files previously downloaded.
  5. Type the following command depending on your operating system:
  • Windows: Run-root windows.bat
  • Linux: chmod + x root-linux.sh
  • Run root-linux.sh
  • MAC: chmod + x root-mac.sh
  • Run root-mac.sh

    Sorry I have a few dumb questions:

    Will rooting by itself(not loading a ROM) prevent me from getting updates straight from Google on the future?

    If I can still get the updates ota, will my phone remain rooted after the update?
